PROPER CARE

The fuel tank requires no regular maintenance, but it should be occasionally examined from underneath for leaks or rusted out support straps. Any repair work should be performed by a professional automotive technician.
Periodically check the rubber gasket on the inside of the fuel tank cap.
FUEL TANK CAP
If the gasket is brittle, torn, or cracked, replace the cap. Expect to install a new cap every 4 to 5 years. However, some caps do last longer.
